Internet Limitations Hinders February 27th, 2010 Stream
On February 1st, 2010, Level|Up published a press release for the February 27, SoCal Level|Up Tournament. In the release, we stated live stream coverage of the tournament would be provided. Since our request for an internet upgrade was not fulfilled, we decided not to stream with the current connection provided by the venue.
Streams are utilized to bring instant coverage of gaming events. They are the future medium of broadcasting and play an essential role in Level|Up’s production. While they are an incredible asset to a tournament, they do not dictate the organization and integrity of the event. It is unfortunate that we cannot provide a high quality stream as stated. We have thought long and hard about an alternative to overcome instances where the venue cannot meet our minimal streaming requirements.
Since a stream cannot be provided, we have opted to showcase event coverage and tournament footage on our Wednesday Nigh Fights (WNF) broadcast. Beginning March 3rd, 2010 and every following Wednesday, we will be releasing pre-recorded live footage, a marquee match, and progressive matches of the Top 8 of Street Fighter 4 and Tekken 6. In addition, higher quality versions of this footage will be released on our YouTube media vault at http://www.youtube.com/user/levelupseries every following Saturday of the WNF broadcast.
For example, the tentative March 3rd release schedule will include the following:
- Special event coverage
- A marquee match from the qualifying pools of Street Fighter 4 and Tekken 6
- And the first Top 8 Winners Bracket match for Street Fighter 4 and Tekken 6
